Don’t forget to vote
This year’s presidential election is said to be the most important election, about the future of America and her people. That in itself should be enough motivation to get out and vote.
Of course, that is not the only contest that is extremely important. There are house races up and down the ballot also. National, regional, state, and local…all of great significance.
A contest that many tend to overlook, and unaware of their importance is the election of your local Board of Education members. This contest should be a top priority when voting, and one should be informed fully about the candidates and their plans.
The Board of Education is a powerful position as to how a school system relates (or not) to the parents or guardians of the students. The trend continues within school systems across America, to keep the parents/guardians at arms length from what goes on in the schools. The board is also the buffer between the students and the parents, as to what is going on with their children.
It is equally important for parents, relatives, guardians, and other community members, to attend these school board meetings. If you cannot attend, hopefully, you can catch a live broadcast online. This may be the only lifeline for the community to protect and defend the students.
You will never know what goes on within the school system, and the administrators, if you never take the time and effort to attend these meetings.
It’s an investment not only of your time but also into the lives of those you are responsible for.
